If not, I’d double check that the power supply is evenly and securely connected to the logic board. I know it sounds stupid, but turns out I didn’t break anything, just needed to, you know, actually press the power button like a man.įelt pretty stupid, but my computer worked after all I hate to suggest this but since it was my issue, maybe it’s yours.įor some reason, after the upgrade, the actual power button required a harder, slightly longer press to get it to power on. Installed it and then it wouldn’t boot up. Ok so I did this same upgrade on my Mac mini a few years back.

These photos are of my last attempt to install the original RAM modules and check all components. Hope someone here could identify a mistake on my part, so I could fix it.
But I am just wondering: What else could have technically happened in this case? Electrostatic discharge? Manufacturing plant resin from the OWC modules got into the sockets? I have resigned to take my Mac mini to an Apple authorized repair place this weekend.
We checked for correct seating of original RAM modules and logic board. No boot even with original RAM modules.Ĭalled OWC technical support. So I reinstalled the original RAM modules, again checking for every detail including correct seating. I reinstalled the OWC RAM modules a few more times checking every connection, checking for secure seating of the modules, checking every screw, looking for damage to any component. I also tried turning on the Mac mini without the USB dongle, but there was still no display signal nor did the on indicator light up. Mac mini did not boot up: “on” indicator did not light up, no display signal, but a USB dongle (an iLok) lit up, so there seems to be power.
Upgraded the RAM on my Mac Mini (Late 201 using the appropriate OWC modules following the related OWC video and iFixit guide. As you can imagine, not working on music or using my UAD gear is very sad Anyone here have experience upgrading RAM on a Mac Mini (Late 2018? My Mac Mini is now not booting up even with original RAM back in it.
